Tips From a Graduate to Those Entering College

Whoo!  I finally graduated, but it took me 5 years, and it wasn't until the end that I started making all A's, by then my GPA was only 3.3 out of 4.  So here is what tips I have for those who are about to start college (or who are already in).
  • Contact the instructor before the semester begins and ask for advice (Do it a week before finals exams the semester before you are to begin in their class)
  • Read the first two chapters of every book before the first day of class
  • First day of class, sit in the front row, ask an intelligent/relevant question or volunteer an answer if they ask a question; stay in the front 5 rows for the next 2 weeks and continue to ask questions/volunteer answers; after that, you can sit wherever you like.
  • Go to every class/study session/lecture/test/quiz.  Even if you don't take good notes, go to class just to hear the teacher explain it, plus they see you and that will help you.
  • If the teacher asks a question of the class, and no one else answers, make an answer as if you were just making a suggestion.  "Could it be 15?"
  • Try my Home Page JumpPoint idea and see if it works for you
  • After you run up a huge balance on a credit card and are paying really high interest, kick yourself for not listening to everyone who told you that credit cards were a bad idea.

Of course I only got a 3.3, you might try and find a guy with a 4.0 and ask him for advice.
